Question Memory Foam Mattress?

We need to replace our spring mattress and have heard some good things about the memory foam mattresses. Has anyone got one, or could make a recommendation. I know the best thing is to go out and try some, but I'd like to get a bit of background first and at least know which to look for or avoid.

Cheers

Got a fully foam mattress, and its a gods send.

Came rolled up the size of a carpet, and undid the plastic and it grew into a King Size.
Mine is memory foam, then foam underneath. And its the single most comfy thing I`ve EVER laid on. No stupid ridges, buttons, supporting but not firm/soft, and no noise when there is movement .

I personally would NEVER have a sprung bed again.

Only problem I get is the sheets don`t like holding onto it, but elasticating the corners and having a flap to go under the corners sorted that problem.

I`m not a small guy 6ft 3 and heavy, and my ex was small and we never had issues and could lay alongside without rolling into each other (unless we wanted to). I`ve also had a serious back injury and it gives perfect support to my back.

+1 and also if your partner rolls over you can hardly feel it, which is nice

I hate them as my wife found out what I was doing with a 9th old boy --- memory foam

I've never had one but I hear they can be hot...

THey are great, though there are different versions i.e. hard and soft and everything in between. Pop along to a bed shop and try em out i would say. Ive got a pretty firm version so I dont just "sink" into it. They are worth every penny.

I'm wanting a new mattress too, as mine is knackered and I never sleep properly anymore

Is there any on-line sites to buy them from? Or do you have to try before you buy? As I find it a PITA going shopping.

lol, yeah I didn't really word that too good...... I realise there are on-line sites to buy anything from. I didn't know if you were suppose to try them to see if they are ok for your back etc. Something I wouldn't really like to do......

I see your point though on my dumbass comment.

Now this is my type of thread lol

I work for a leading bed manufactorer, as such Im in the position to offer great advice for you and a reduction on the RRP.

I have to agree with Jim, the non sprung foam mattresses are the way forward. No noisey springs, no roll together, good posture, warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and most come with a zip on the outside of the fabric meaning it can be washed

Rob

The only issue I have with them is that they reflect a lot of heat. In the summer it's just too hot to lie on.

+1 for this, mine came the same way, I have now bought four, three 3' singles and a double.

I'd NEVER go back to a sprung mattress.

Took me six months of sleeping opn this one before I cvould get into bed without going, "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah".

We have two doubles, one upstairs for the summer and one downstairs for the winter. Both are great, got them from Sleepmaster though I must say that they are both half foam half sprung 'cos I was told full foam can get way too hot particularly in summer.

We've got a "Platinum" from here:

http://www.thememoryfoammattressfirm.co.uk/

Technically they are exactly the same as Tempur, but the cost is VERY different. Also, they don't deliver the mattress squashed up - it's delivered as a full sized mattress.

Would absolutely recommend memory foam mattresses in general - not too hot in the summer... I don't notice any real difference over a regular mattress in that respect.

Bought a memory foam mattress last year when we bought a new bed - the guy in the shop (independant retailer not a large multiple) explained the importance of matching the mattress with the base.

Bought a king size bed and memory foam matress from the Sealey Gold range - £500 well spent. My wife sleeps on a memory foam pillow which she thinks is great - I cant sleep on any kind of pillow so I only have her word for how good it is - she did wack me with it once and the weight of it almost knocked me off my feet!!!

I'm thinking about a replacement mattress at the moment as well, but I've read lots of stuff about heat problem, and memory foam not being good for your sex life (not enough bounce-back). The heat problems seem to be very individual, even to the extent of one half of a married couple waking up dripping with sweat and the other not having any overheating problems. Any memory foam users care to comment?

But yeah I'm one of those overheating people so I can't have a foam mattress. Not denying they are brilliant to sleep on I just can't do it.
