Default Cycling clothes ?

Been doing some good distances, 30 - 40 miles, on and off road and some heavy down hilling ..

Looking for something multi purpose to wear, shorts and top .. not looking for skin tight ****, I'm not bothered about speed.. any suggestions ?

Baggy shorts, maybe Endura Humvee or Altura equivalent. Maybe a Fox downhill top for warmer weather. For chillier weather you'd want a Helly Hansen base layer and some sort of neoprene style jacket (brands above or others) as this will be water resistant & warm.

Chain Reaction, Wiggle, etc for above. There are cheaper alternatives (Aldi stuff etc).

Andy

PS Doing 100 mile Glasgow Edinburgh sportive next week - wish me luck!

I just wear the Sports Direct/Karrimoor stuff and cover the padded lycra shorts with some baggy ones, i usually just use the Karrimoor tops, either short or long sleave depending on the weather, cheap as chips and i am not too fussed when i wreck them by preforming tactical, airborne dismounts in the woods

Endura shorts here too. Tops, well, anything really but have a nice Raceface long-sleeve top for hot days.

Endura Humvee 3/4 shorts are a good investment.. I use the Endura stuff for XC and Royal Racing / 661 kit for DH..

Loads of choice on CRC

I recently bought some baggy cycling shorts on Ebay brand is Dare2b, pretty god, not padded though.
I have an Endura cycling jacket which i've got for the colder months which is pretty good quality also.
For cycling jerseys i've got some Muddy Fox ones from Sports Direct, very similar to the Karrimor ones they do but a bit better quality, fine for day to day use really. I commute 20 miles a day in my gear and further distances at weekend

You'd be surprised how different they are to just baggy shorts. Massive difference to the fit and materials used

www.stif.co.uk are usually pretty good for old seasons kit.

Im a big fan of fox kit! its great quality so handles the stacks well! All my DH kit is fox and pretty much all of it was bought as last seasons from stif!

For xc though i can highly reconmend race face or endura waterproof shorts .... with winter coming up theyre the only way to avoid trench bolluck!

Also, 3/4 length sleeves are the way to go in the wet! full sleeves mean you cook and short sleeves mean you freeze! 3/4 length lets the air in but keeps the wet off most of your arm! However 3/4 length sleeves are few and far between so go for a mx top in the sales and get the scissors out.

What he said, I thought they were just baggy shorts till I got some, reinforced around wear areas, pockets on mine seem better thought out too for cycling.
I dothink the cost of a lot of cycling clothing takes the pi$$ though, that's why I try and buy a lot in sports direct

I find Fox shorts the most comfy but its down to what cut fits you the best. Go to a shop and try a range of different manufacutors and I find that the sizes can also be very variable

Sports direct for ultra cheap padded shorts and tops (everything massively reduced when I went in). Humvee shorts for me too.
