(please don't be sh*t, please don't be sh*t)
It's actually a pre-equel rather than a remake. Its the story of the Norweigan camp.
Robocop remake would have been cool but that got binned a while back. - Actually it was a victim of MGM going bust. It seems it might be back on with Chris Pine (Star Trek, Unstoppable) as Murphy (Rumour)

Last house on the left wasn't that bad to be honest. I watched the newer one and then the original, and standing alone, they are both good films.
I think it's a bit unfair to look at comparing two films that are perhaps two decades apart with regards to special effects and resources.
In the 70's when a lot of great iconic films came out films were made great by their plot, the great directors who created tension so easily and simply by just using music, and long dramatic pauses and cold icy breath on the camera.
Now it's all pretty and special effects.
People love them all the same, but they are totally different with regards to film making.

The Dukes of Hazard
What an abomination that was. Took me years after it was made to watch it. Wish I hadn't now. Utter Sh!te.
Won't even bother with the `A Team`

Occasionally they do.
But as you say, CGi can be used to detriment as opposed to augmenting / improving a film.
If they remade an american werewolf in london, would they use prosthetics and SFX to do the change or CGI?
My bettings they would use CGI, but would it make for a better effect ? who knows.
20 years ago when CGI was in its infancy, films had the ability to shock / awe people using SFX. today, all you get is ... the CGI was cool...
I dont deny CGI is good, but as you say are film makers using this to bolster a weak script?

They would probably use CGI. It's the way things are now, but that's my point........it's all about the FX without having a good strong script. As you say, the abililty to shock/awe, but no real substance. It's all short scenes/flash frames etc.

Cape Fear was a good remake. I liked it better than the original.
The Fog remake was ****e. Some movies should be left well alone!
Would be good to see a new Cannonball Run though. But I guess they would ruin it by using too much CGi of spinning turbos etc..
In fact, just make it with more modern automobiles! Imagine an Aventador in the opening credits..

I'm surprised they haven't got round to Logan's Run yet but that could just be another **** up. Agree about Dukes of Hazard, startlingly awful! Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy was a bore and shouldn't have been made. Martin Freeman ideal for Arthur Dent but the shaky sets and cast of the BBC TV series much better.

I loved the dukes of hazard and the new A-Team was really good but some remakes are pants.
I have read that they are remaking dirty dancing now. Patrick swayze has not long died and they are going to ruin on of his defining moments, where will it end????

Any remake would be more like Fast & the Furious sh!te about NOS and tuned Jap cars.
Agree with the Aventador in the title sequence.
