Old Sky box

Old Sky box
Ok folks, what do I do with an old Sky box (5yrs+ old).
We have just bought another property which is getting Sky+ enabled (i.e. dish/cableing etc but not getting a 2nd Sky+ box) as we intend taking the Sky+ box from our home whenever we travel there.
Now in preparation for moving some stuff around I have just found our old Sky box in the loft and was wondering whether I could leave this at the new property and still get a Sky signal?? OK I won't get Sky+ functionality but will I still be able to watch some channels?
Or should I leave the old Sky box at address2 and buy one of these freesat cards from Sky that at least enables me to watch a reduced list of Sky channels??
Thanks
