I purchased some Dorset cerial and on the inside it says enter this code to see if you have won a camper and it's got me thinking....

Say they have 50,000 boxes on the shelf. Do they have it in the system that code ABC123 will win or is it completly random?

What if someone doesn't buy that winning box??

It's just an easy way of data harvesting for them. They'll then sell on your details to all and sundry. Avoid.

Im not bothered about the details side of things. I just wonder if all online cometitions kitkat etc ar random and typing the code is irrelivent.

I imagine they have X codes for prizes and these are randomly distributed into packs around the country so when you type your code in it is either a winner or not I cannot see them risking doing it the other way.

I would also imagine it is unlikely the top prize wouldnt be run as they would know what they sell of the product so could guess at the time period for the claims.
