domain names query?
can someone explain to me the pros and cons of domain names.i.e whats the best to have dot co.uk or dot com.or what its all about.
ive built my 1st website www.electricmatiz.webs.com
the problem is it wont come up on a search i.e google, yahoo etc even though i filled out the relevant forms, and registered etc months ago with advice from this site.
its just a bit of fun but i was wondering if its worth paying to get a proper domain name.or can it be done for free.any advice for a dummy welcome .

If I had to choose a new domain name I'd go for .com over .co.uk. I think most browsers will default to appending .com to something you type into the address bar, so you could simply tell someone to type in yourwebsitename into a browser and hit return and, in theory it'd try an auto-lookup on .com.

If your serious buy both.
Personally I wouldn't bother, you'll present your fine project far better as a Facebook page.
p.s. Sorry to hear you're giving up Paragliding, loads of parageeks into Electric propulsion.
