Sorry if this has been covered already, but basically I want to unlock my Iphone 3G.

It was on Orange contract, but I want it unlocked to all networks. I have had a go by reading some guidlines off the net, but it seems to be a bit of a mine field, I got as far as Jailbreak, but if im truely honest I dont know what im doing .

Version 4.3.3
Carrier 02 (Im obviously getting somewhere as it was originaly Orange, but I still have no Service)
Moderm Firmware 05.16.02

I have also just bought this off eBay too hoping it may help, but I havent received any instruction yet though. IPHONE IPOD IPAD JAILBREAK + UNLOCK TO ALL NETWORKS (320724738672)

If its no longer under contract contact orange and they will do it for you.

The only way you unlock that baseband is update it to an ipad baseband, which i would not recommend as it is irreversible

DIY solutions are not permanent unlock. Do As said above get your carrier to do it

Thanks for the advice, I have contacted Orange and it looks like for a fee of £20 they will unlock it.

Its worth it in the long run. You will not have any issues upgrading software and worrying about losing your unlock.

i looked into this a while ago, and it is a minefield!!!. e.g. jailbreaking wont unlock your phone!. best to go to your provider......

I havent paid anything as yet.

Basically I have a Nokia Xpress at present, and as I get a contract "sim card only" for work use, I wanted to upgrade my handset, and speaking to a relative the other day about it in passing he said he had a "Iphone 3G" that I could have for pennies as he has recently upgraded to a HTC. So I have the phone in hand, but it is/was locked to Orange, now I looked at Jailbreaking which looks simple, but I want to open it to all networks, but as said it looks very tricky. This where I am, I havent done anything regarding unlocking yet.
