Question Desk Cable Holes

I'm building a new office and using a long piece of kitchen worktop as a desk. I want to get some holes drilled in the back of the top like those cable holes you get in modern desks to feed cables down to power sockets below.

They're about 2-3" diameter but not sure what they are called? They have a plastic liner and cap on, I've only ever seen them in grey. But anyone know where I can get them from and what size they are so I can drill to suit?

Thanks, David

Well thank you very much indeed Mr Scoobeenut

"Desk computer hole grommets" is a new one for me and not a description that trips off the tongue

there is another option depending on how many cables you need to bring through. I found that using round holes wasn't good when there were a lot of cables, and they didn't allow for a three pin plug to pass down through. I cut three rectangles into my worktop and used those letterbox draught proofing brush strips to tidy up the holes. Didn't realise you could buy those circular grommets good find.

Feed the lead "socket" first, not plug, as it's smaller...

P.S. Yes I do have to "PAT" test a few hundred PC's next month....

I was looking for these grommits myself so I coudl hide the cables but couldn't find them anywhere, so will buy a few myself!
We haven't had the house long, so its still coming on and a little untidy, but Im getting there slowely

Hi Speedy, ah the old "escape room"

Very similar thoughts and I see you have used kitchen worktop which I think is a great way of having a decent size working area. And I'm not the tidiest chap in the world so need the space!

Where did you get those worktop support legs from? I need a couple to go onto a ceramic tiled floor.

Hi David, The legs loook like they ar efrom B&Q.

The holes you are asking for , are called Cable Ports. / cable tidy. I get mine from a local Tool shop to me . And I think Axminster Power Tools may sell them .?

A company called Trend-uk.com also sell them and available in 3 sizes 60m/m and 80m/m 105m/m
in grey/ brown/ and black.
Buy a hole saw/ tank cutter, of the required size to cut the hole.

Hope this helps Paul.

The leg was indeed from B&Q and is adjustable (£12 ish i think).
My uncle is a joiner and he fitted them for me for in return for a bacon butty and a brew
The finish is perfect! He's done a fantastic job, as the walls weren't 100% square and it took him ages shaving bits of so there was no gaps. It was sooooo tight getting it in place but it solid as a rock now!

Its great to have a huge amount of desk space, much better than the usual pc desk jobbies

Still need to hide the cabling, buy a wooden blind and get some of those grommits to finish it off
