Fantastic news! I can't remember the last time we had some news that meant the good citizens of this country could sleep safer in their beds & the scum would be made to think twice.
Now let's get started giving the homeowner a 'Good Citizen' medal & cash reward for getting 3 scumbags of the streets(1 permanently) & saving us all fortune.

Good result, even if it did take CPS a whole month to reach the decision.

By there was some some Shi*e posted on the original thread. Guess the posters will feel pretty stupid now....
"So, according to the Police, it's alright for a gang to break into someones house, beat the **** out of them, rob them, and maybe rape them."
"Yet it's murder to defend yourself and your loved ones?"
"Looking at that case it's likely plod will charge them with manslaughter."
"We know what will happen - the defenders will go to prison should be like America imho, you step over the threshold of my house & all your rights are gone "
"
Quote:
And who says "Yet it's murder to defend yourself and your loved ones?"
The Police. They have arrested 3 people in the house, on suspicion of Murder."
"You are basically not allowed to make provision to defend yourself."
Seems the moral of the story is wait until you know the full story before posting bollox

It does seem like finally there is common sense being applied
The only thing is you have to be careful now about what is reasonable force. I recall the guy who actively chased the burglar and beat him half to death. That's clearly wrong in the eyes of the law, morally is another debate. I think they should release some guidelines that explain broadly what you are and are not allowed to do.

Oh absolutely Les I was just pointing out it's a different matter if they run off and you chase them and beat them half to death. Yes you'd feel justified in doing this, but it's not self-defense anymore as the attack on you has ceased.

Common sense, yes.
Now I am not too up on the law in this case, but this is my hypothesis. If the CPS allow it to go to court and the homeowner is found not guilty, the precedent is set for future cases. Therefore it would make it more difficult to prosecute in cases where the details are not as cut and dried, due to the defending barristers using the precedent.
I don't know, are we now casting judgement at CPS level? I think the guy concerned was treated justly though, and the burglar too.
