Meh.
Easy to single out Northamptonshire with a newspaper article like that.
Might be a tad more interesting and relevant if it was compared to national statistics for the same offence.

I live in Northant's as do many tens of thousands of other people and YES, it is relevant and interesting to me and i guess other scoobynetters who live in, drive through, or work in the county!

I'd take this with a pinch of salt. Chances are, they did random stops of people yes, but also focused on those who drove erratically or at night, thus the results would naturally be biased towards it.

So do I, and I agree it's not good reading.
But as said it's meaningless without comparison. I'd be surprised if there were no areas in the country with worse statistics than Northants.
It's a British character trait to declare publicly how bad we are at anything. Wouldn't it be a nice change to see something positive?

Or is it simply a case of less police on the roads thse days as seem to think can police by safety / speed cameras, so more peole think can get away with offences that cant be detected by static camera ?
I guess if this exercise was repeated nation wide would see pretty much the same results TBH. A true sign of the times I'm afraid and hopefully this is going to be wake up time for how the roads are policed.
