Next door neighbours daughter comes to visit her every week and always parks 1/2 on the pavement outside the house as she's too lazy to open the gates and reverse onto the drive.
A couple of months ago her car was totalled by a van which hit it sending it up the road (must have been speeding as the road is a 30).
She (neighbours daughter) got the insurance payout and bought a new car and still parked in the exact same place instead of the drive (hers is the only car parked on the road btw) and today that car has been wrecked by a passing car )

Bet when she gets another car she'll park on/ off the pavement still?

A new car every few months - I'd say she has her head screwed on ...... now all she needs is to sleep in it when it's hit and she can claim shed-loads and retire a rich lady!!

I actually agree with Lewis lol.. she gets a new car, with probably a courtesy car in the mean time .. lol sounds like a good Scam to me ..

The way I see it she is either parking badly and is seriously unlucky, or she is deliberately parking in a dangerous manner so that she will get hit and make a claim. Either way her insurance must be a lot. Does seem to have the wiff of a scam though.

Is it a narrow road to make her park halfway on the kerb. Whose fault was it that the car was hit, if the van was speeding and was unable to avoid her car,it is surely his fault.

I agree it is a bit daft to continue to park in a spot where she might get hit again.

A friend of mine did a similar thing with her old Corsa. EVERYBODY else parked on the drive, but no, she would park half on / half off the road. FOUR times in one year she got hit, each time the car was fixed up, and then parked in exactly the same place again.

She never learnt, her car was a mess. She did not care about the car, or the hassle it was causing other people. Not just the people who hit her, but all the people who had to drive around her car.

I thought it was illegal as well, so in which case, the insurance would be within their rights to refuse to pay out?
