My money would be on local chavscum, pikeys for all their many faults understand and have affinity with horses - more likely to steal it and sell it on that kill it for sh*ts and giggles.
sickening act and the people involved need finding and a fecking good, hard beating administered to the cowardly scumbags, ideally involving waterboarding so they know how it feels to drown!

^^^^^^ i agree people blame pikeys for everything (most things they are guilty for) but nobody comes inbetween a true pikey and a horse lol they love animals, chavs on the other hand are barstuards

I beg to differ ... they (Pikeys) are not kind to their ponies - and if one has become a liability then it is disposed of - throwing in a lake with an old cart to drag it down with would appeal.
But, yes, I could be wrong .... the Chavs could be the scum responsible.
Truth is, I doubt they will ever find who did it.

Pikeys only exist for themselves, there were reports round here of when the last lot left those who went to clear up after they disappeared, they went to the camp and found two dogs tied up that had died in the heat.

A very similar thing happened up here a couple of years ago.
They tried to get a horse fair going like at Appleby. It was held for a couple of years but after the amount of trouble they caused the council put a stop to it.
They used to race the horses & carts along the coast road & Sea front. On one of the hottest days they decided to take one of the horses down on the beach and into the sea.
A wave knocked the cart over, which pulled the horse under and it drowned. There was quite a bit controversy about it because that particular day the beach was packed with families and young children who saw it happen.
Around the bank hol weekend when they are due to turn up the council places 100s of skips filled with rubble blocking the entrances to the fields which they stopped on. Massive boulders were also placed in-front of the fences to stop them ripping them down and gaining access.
A large amount of them turned up a couple of weeks ago and managed to take a car park over.
Doesn't seem like the council have been able to get rid & we will be stuck with them for a wile.

That is an awful story, what a disgusting way to treat those poor ponies.
I think louts who do that sort of thing should get a public flogging which is very painful and extremely embarrassing for them.
I would feel no mercy for people who are prepared to act like that.
