Lightbulb Would you put £ on me getting an extension ?

Subject: RE: Your Contract Status

Mark,

I’d like to extend your contract through July 29 at this stage. Here are my expectations:

· Maximum 40 hours invoiced per week.
Happy to commit to this expectation
· When users contact you directly for Hyperion help, show them how to open a Helpdesk ticket by opening one for them on their behalf.
Happy to commit to this expectation
· By Friday 24-June, document what you DO know on how to run the EPE extract from Oracle Financial Analyser, as well as the format in which previous files were generated. Please tell me (or confirm) if D’s assistance is essential and whether you’ve made clear arrangements for him to provide this help and by when.
There are a number of extracts required to be run from the Express Monitor in OFA to facilitate the generation of the output requested by Susan.
1. Extraction of the entire leaf level actuals data in local currency. Done 06/22 – will need redone at half yr (possibly y/e)
2. Extraction of the entire Study Budget Hierarchical Structure (with Compound). Done 06/22
3. Extraction of the entire Infrastructure Index Account Code Hierarchical Structure. Done 06/22
4. Extraction of the entire HMA Cost Centre Hierarchical Structure. Done 06/22
5. Dimension Extract (Familial Relationship) for Cost Centre. Done 06/24
6. Dimension Extract (Familial Relationship) for Account Code. Done 06/24
7. Dimension Extract (Familial Relationship) for Study Budget ID. Done 06/24

All the extracts above are created as CSV data files which are imported into excel to provide source data for generation of the required output.
D has confirmed that the only copy of the MS Access Database was located locally on his G** Laptop – He is checking upon his return to Boston w/e of 6/25.
In the event the MS database is located – It will be zipped and mailed to me for dropping onto network share in preparation for June m/e.
In the case the outlook db cannot be located – It is not expected to be an issue (D has offered to rebuild) Alternatively the output could be re-engineered using V-Lookups in Excel

· I understand you’ll be working on some training materials with Debs for Project Management. I’d expect to see that completed by July 29 as well.
I’m happy to act as an additional resource to facilitate speedy creation of the bespoke materials for PM Audience. Debs is the lead on this
· I’d like to see a report identifying barren projects as soon as possible (this Friday).
I ran a barren values report today on RptgASO – There are no barren Projects with financial activity against any scenario.
· While running the preactuals into OFA every month is not needed, please load June data as the month-end close begins to wind down (just as you did in May).
Happy to commit to this expectation

Kind Regards

Mark
Achievement of these objectives may allow other opportunities to emerge that could justify a further extension, however it appears that any extension past August is unlikely unless project funding emerges. Let’s work closely together to review the progress on these objectives in the next two weeks. After July 11, your official manager at G** will shift from me to Ed. As it is unlikely that my successor will be named quickly, he’ll be the person to whom you will report for the remainder of your engagement

I find it very difficult to believe anyone could be happy dealing with that jargon.

I'm so glad that i no longer have to deal with people that speak and send emails like that.

What language is that by the way...

Lol.

Question Here we go again

Extended till the end of September.

That's extension #25 (Used to be 6M - now 2M)

On and off I have been on the job since March 2000.

11 years.

ELEVEN

I must be doing something right to get so many extensions - I'm just thinking what to do when it comes to an end.

Anyone here in recruitment?

OFA
OLAP
Hyperion Enterprise
Hyperion Planning
Hyperion Reporting
Smartview
Essbase

PM if you have a role

I would be happy to look to going back into training if need be - I think the current rate is £400 a day?

I look after some Hyperion stuff, just at the database level, don't get involved in the app side, sounds like they have your card marked but it depends how much they rely on you and if anyone else can do the work, I tend to be quite open at work with regards to how I do stuff but I do keep bits back to myself, I like to have a little bit of mystique in reserve.

Week off coming up from Saturday

Have been asked if I'll stay on another 4 weeks!

Really think I should update the CV and get something in London - Getting tired of the stress of 4 week extensions.

you got to love monthly extensions. I literally find out a week before my contract ends whether I have another months work or whether I'm on the rock n roll.

still at least the company can use it to blackmail me into doing unlimited over time.

If I had ONE piece of advice to give you it would be to set up a company, get your fee earning paid into the company account and then pay yourself a living wage, no more. Keep money in the business to cover you for the inevitable break. I should be ok up to 6 months without earning - any more than that and it's WORRY TIME!

I've done the Ltd company thing, got fed up with the VAT bills & other paperwork. I've got a rainy day fund that will let me sit on my **** for a year if I'm out of a job, but ideally that isn't going to happen.

Thank you for the advice though

14% Pension
Buy one get one free shares options
BUPA
20% annual bonus
4K car allowance
Decent enough salary

Happy days

Ahhhhh. It's bloody brilliant being a permy. Already building up a nice little pot of shares and pension. Also, as a permy I get training paid for by G**. I'm "on point" for becoming the "Go to Guy" for the Dodeca application. It's a utility that was developed by Tim Tow (Essbase) and it's cutting edge OLAP stuff. Net take home isn't significantly less than I took when a scummy contractor (Nowt building up in a back up account though). Bonus is paid next month and a pay rise the month after.
