Default Sh*t storm brewing?

Lulzsec are claiming to have hacked the ENTIRE census survey from 2011. and will publish it shortly.

I don't know about you, but if this turns out to be true, I for one will be mightily p*ssed off!

i cant imagine they will release it, the more they release the more chance there is that they will anoy someone who knows who they are.

Also looks like the authorities are closing in on them.

Just curious as to why your time is so precious that you won't take half an hour to tick some boxes, and by not doing so cost the taxpayer more?

From one of their posts....
-------------------------------------------------
Greetings Internets,

We have blissfully obtained records of every single citizen who gave their records to the security-illiterate UK government for the 2011 census

We're keeping them under lock and key though... so don't worry about your privacy (...until we finish re-formatting them for release)

Myself and the rest of my Lulz shipmates will then embark upon a trip to ThePirateBay with our beautiful records for your viewing pleasure!

Ahoy! Bwahahaha... >:]

There isn't really anything particularly exciting in the census data. You could use it for some identify fraud on companies that have stupid security (like Next who just ask for date of birth and address and that is it).

It's one thing for these guys to be highlighting security issues, it is however another for them to publish private data about innocent citizens!

Census is 5minutes, hardly a chore!

Exactly the reason I avoided filing one. I do not trust the government with such information.

And before anyone says the will come knocking...... no they won't

Weird, I got an email to the account I use when signing up to forums etc (that I expect will get spammed) and this morning I got one from "Lulzsec mail@onlinebestoffers.co.uk" saying
'Lulzsec loves you. Sloth and ignorance are your real enemies.'

I thought WTF is that about and deleted them.

Wow, you're such a geeza.

I'm really worried now that potential fraudsters know how many people live in my house, my religion and my middle name

Just saw the pastebin of the UK census hack. That wasn't us - don't believe fake LulzSec releases unless we put out a tweet first.

This is pretty shocking stuff, whether or not it's true the threat will always exist when databases hold so much information on people

I think the group deserves a medal. And the so called 'security experts' from various companies affected, should be sacked!
