The 'weather widget' was about the first one I zapped from my phone ('my' phone - NOT 'i'Phone ..... ) when I got it. Weather's never accurate enough near me (sunny Cornwall) to want to check it.
Oh, but as I have an Android phone, I could use a flash based site if I wanted to ....

Big deal, flash has a short life span IMO, Its clunky and too CPU hungry resulting in reduced battery life. Ive witnessed flash on an Android phone and quite frankly is was terrible! With the dominance of mobile devices more businesses are asking for flash free websites according to a web designer friend of mine.
HTML5 is an open standard not closed like flash and will ultimately win on the mobile platform.
Flash is not the holy grail of mobile web!
As above, the MET office weather app is good, link here

Absolutely fine on my phone. You must have had a duff one ....
I have a brilliant app for up the minute weather. It is called iHand and I put it out of the iWindow and it can immediately tell me weather it is raining.
For anything longer I use one of the many iPhone a apps that do the weather
