I've gone cold turkey.
As some of you know, i'm taking anti-depressant drugs.Abilify to be exact, they aren't having any good effects on me at all.Possibly not the best place to talk about it.Anyone else doing the same ???.I haven't had my seritonin levels boosted yet.Now i have difficulties sleeping, anxiety problems, worrying alot, loss of interest in things & other such nonsense.I trusted these companies & my psychiatrist. Now they are putting my health at risk, that's annoying me.I didn't need these 12 moths ago.

I am not being patronising, please understand that.
You need to get some friends and start to live. Forget drugs, they don't help.
Have some fun in your life, it's easy really. Give it a go, and all the best

I think you need to discuss this with your doctor first thing tomorrow, matey. You can't stop and start these things ***** nilly - we're talking about your brain chemistry here.

Unless depleted serotonin and dopamine levels (where the illness is organic, not situational) leave the individual suicidal. Dangerous advice.

Give them a ring tomorrow and explain what you've done. I don't know what mg you have been on, but if it was high, and you suddenly stop, you may end up in a bit of a pickle. PM if you want, you can have my phone number.

No far from that mate.I started at 10mg for a bit & was increased to 20mg.I can't remember how long i've been on these things.

Well, you need to know and talk through coming off them with the quack. If you've not sorted the situational stuff out you may find you're back to square one.

Drugs don't work for everyone but people with the most friends, most exciting and fulfilling lives still suffer from depression. It's like saying don't catch a cold, it's an illness, it isn't possible.
To the OP, how long have you been taking them for? Short term effects can make matters worst but in the long term should work.
Personally I'd try some cognitive behavioral therapy, works wonders. However do your research before paying anyone to do it
Best of luck

Even if you feel these drugs aren't helping you/making you suffer unpleasant side effects, I wouldn't think going cold turkey would be a good move.
I think you need to get to your GP and tell him/her your concerns asap. Not in a day or two. I'm no expert, but these drugs will be effecting your brain, it's not like just stopping taking some mild painkillers...
I don't know your circumstances, but perhaps you have been prescribed the wrong drugs, or you need a combination of the right ones and actual help in life not just 'here are some pills...goodbye'.
It's a different kettle of fish, but I take medication for epliepsy, they work on the mind too. The one key bit of information is to not stop taking them suddenly. I don't know if the same goes for your meds, but please, I urge you to get proper advice before thinking you know best.
I genuinely wish you the best, and hope you get sorted with some decent help.

I have had my fair share off anti-depressants from the age of 21 and I felt like I needed to get off them. I treated myself with a varied diet and exercise, kickboxing, boxing, cycling and running. I'm 38 now, have good days, ok days and every once in a while the odd bad day as does everyone. This doesn't work for everyone and should be done over a gentle transition. I kept a diary of how I felf as my treatment changed and told my parents the plan so they could keep an eye on my progress. It's been over 11 years since I've had any sort of low spell and I've never looked back.
Everyone's different but I believe that we need to know in ourselves what makes us tick, I had a chemical inbalance which was brought about by poor hormone circulation and a psychotic girlfriend cured by the exercise, oh and kicking her **** to the kerb (not literally).
Hang in there mate, don't change too many things at once and don't do it on your own. Change one thing at a time and see how you feel.
