I think you need to stop looking on the internet too much for information. It can easily scare anyone.

If you actually feel genuinely scared and worried right now, I strongly advise you contact either NHS direct for proper advice, or an emergency doctor.

It is very easy to keep looking for info on the internet and scaring yourself with what you find. You will benefit far more from decent, direct medical advice.

BIG +1 from me...read some of the posts again Nathan...seek professional help rather than asking this forum mate...some folk are telling you to bin meds, others are telling you to stop bvggering about with them...make some good choices please. and...stop looking on the internet mate, unless youre gonna check out NICE, MIND, Rethink etc. i sincerely hope you take some of the good advice on here.

Yes, please stop reading scare-mongering reports on psychiatric meds.

You will end up feeling a hell of a lot work without the Abilify.
So what, it maded you fidgity and restless, it could be doing really important other things for you. It certainly changed my life.
I have Borderline Personality Disorder. The biggest thing is the chronic depression, self-harm and eating disorders for me, but this link explains it ;
http://www.wikihow.com/Deal-with-Bor...ality-Disorder

Ill probably never come off the drugs and if i do venlafaxine gives you brain zaps and is hell to get off. Mirtazapine makes me tired and Abilify made me restless and anxious to start with.
But, im holding down a decent job, own a scooby and am buying my own place. Ive got relationships and friendships to work on but slowly im rebuilding my life.
I dont credit the drugs with all that, ive done a lot of therapy, but without them i wouldnt have been around to give me the chance to do therapy and put the changes into practice. I was wild and impulsive, arguing, rebelling, cutting, overdosing, damaging my career, driving under the infuence of a diazepam OD, ruining friendships, acting like a dick etc etc.

I know its not as simple as that. Deep down i need more therapy to help me overcome my lack of desire to live etc but things can change and improve.

You have to give yourself the best chance possible and not do self-damaging things such as messing round with meds. You have them for a reason.

Oh and ps, i work in a pharmacy. Abilify is over £100 a box. My doctor has to fight to let me have it because of the cost. The only people making money is Otsuka who make it. It wouldnt be handed out left, right and centre at that price theyd give you a cheap anti-depressant instead.

I had a fairly intensive job and the problem was affecting it adversely. I managed somehow to put all my concentration into the job and hobbies and ignoring the bad thoughts. The doctor was right, the more I managed to ignore the problem whenever it surfaced and put it all into the job instead, the stronger my resistance became until the problem disappeared completely. At the time I thought that would not be possible, but the doctor was right with his excellent advice. There had been times initially when I could not see a way out of it. I somehow found it possible with determination to kick the bad thoughts into touch until they became unimportant and then went away altogether.

very interesting read. I have been on Citalopram since October 2008 started with 40mg now down to 10mg. Im in sales & the pressure involved in my line of work is extreme.
I basically walked out of work one day & broke down. Typical man world on my shoulders i can handle anything, I dont need help. I was ruining my wife / kids life & was unbareable to live with.

When i first went on Citalopram they took a few months to raise my mood as i was suffering from depression & work related stress. I have been to see the doc every two months for a "review" where we gradually cut the dosage down to 10mg.

You will find that by going cold turkey your body will take a few weeks to work out you no longer are on the medication. In my opinion you need to sit down with your doc / family or close friends & discuss how you feel.

the internet is a minefield of information & only take what your doc says.

Your body may have built up a tolerence to your medication & may be time for a change.

Hope things work out for you & you get what is best for you.

If felling down just do what i do & go a blast in your beloved scooby on a nice quite twisty road

Cheers

I've always thought of him as Leslie Phillips. He doesn't mind though. Leslie Phillips is quite chuffed to be likened to our Les
