omg... I'm now a Dad.
After Jo and I went in on Thursday morning as Jo was 40week +12 days late, so she's been booked in to be induced.
waters broke at 8:10pm that day...
then... 30hrs of labour later...our son was born at 2:34am this morning, weighing 8lbs 11oz.
name: Edward Lewis Beckwith
will get some pix up later for all those who are interested
Mum and baby doing well.. just a few checks needed on Ed as with the birth was a bit hard on his head so its a bit bruised with him being born via natural delivery.
C section was mention a few times by the doctors but Jo wanted to hold out to have it naturally if she could.. which she did.
As you'd imagine we've not had much sleep these last few days... spoze better get used to that.

Aww, congratualations bud! The head bruises will subside soon, my little un's did as he needed the suction cup to get him out
Take lots of pictures is my advice, even just phone camera ones; you'll be suprised how quickly they change

We're 3 weeks in following our new arrival. It's life changing and amazing to see them develop even in this short time. The bruises go in a couple of days and the semi-permanent frown disappears as their faces stretch out.
Be prepared to never be able to eat chicken Korma again though after you see whats in their nappy around Day 4 or 5 It's all great though
My two top tips are
1) Buy one of these, you won't regret it.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tommee-Tippe.../dp/B004BDOGY8
2) The absolute best way to calm him down when he's balling his eyes out is to hold him in your arms and do squats. They love going up and down.

Well done to Mrs Salsa!
And congratulations becoming a dad!
Yes, give it a few days and the milk comes in, those ***** will look cracking, but I do NOT envy her! I remember them looking great, taking a picture and then going for a warm shower and a cry because they hurt so much!
It's all normal though. If she's breastfeeding the first 6 weeks are the worst!!! And I mean that in the best possible way. Nobody tells you how hard it is, no medical proffesionals anyway.
If she can get past 6 weeks of breastfeeding, (8 with the growth spurt) then you are home free!

Like pimmo I had two lots of nappies, butvi suppose we all have different things that work.
People told me to buy this magic swaddling blanket for my daughter, but I had one already. She hated it! As a thumb sucker, anything that stopped her getting to her thumbs would result in her screaming.
My best investment was this -http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0002ZOI92.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
It's commonly referred to by parenting sites as a 'neglectomatic'! I like to think of it more as a life saver.
Feed, wind and then pop them in there while you cook, eat, iron, do some 'jobs' etc.
I bought on off eBay knowing that by the time they can sit, it's unsafe to use.

In all honesty I never needed a nappy bin. I had one, but the refills were expensive. A scented nappy bag inside an all purpous bin liner did the trick.

It was a fisher price take along swing, and I really did take it everywhere! It folds up quite flat, so it was great to just pop in the boot.
It was probably the only 'bells and whistles' thing I bought, but it was money well spent.
If you check eBay, I'm sure you will find one.
