Edinburgh Hotel

The George Hotel (spookily ) is on George Street (runs parallel to Princes Street).
Other swanky hotels on Princes street are the Balmoral (near Waverley Train Station) and the Caledonian (other end of princes street)

LOL - so that would appear to be the George Inter-Continental as that's on George St. Perhaps the Inter-Continental part is often dropped?
Thanks!
The other one I was looking at was Channings - looks nice and non-chain-hotel-like. The Balmoral is EXPENSIVE , the Caledonian I'll take a look at.

Take a look at the Bonham Hotel as well. It's in the west end of city centre in a number of georgian townhouses and has won quite a few awards as one of the most hip hotels in europe.

Cheers guys. It's an option for my wife's birthday next year. We'd both like to visit Edinburgh, so were thinking of using it as an opportunity to do it in style. Hence the fact that I was looking for somewhere central (and swish!).

Ok, please forgive the vagueness of this question! Can you tell me the name of the hotel in Edinburgh that I'm trying to remember? Clues? Errr...in the centre, perhaps Princes Street, expensive, perhaps with "George" in the name. Not much to go on.....
Have found that there's a George Inter-Continental - has it always been an Inter-Continental? I just don't recognise that part of the name.
