I saw an M5 today pull out from the local Total, and the passenger - some 'youth' - just decided to chuck his empty water bottle on to the verge. He just contemptuous threw it....like he didn't give a ****!

What is it with some people?

I see it a lot. If you have the pleasure of going past a McDonalds car park you will routinely see people finish their 'meal' and throw the paper bag / wrappers out of the window.

I saw this going down a dual carriageway last weekend. Couldn't believe people still do this and on a busy road!?

I don't understand how people can bear to do it. There appears to be no education such as the Keep Britain Tidy campaign of 20 years ago or so. Kids have to be taught it is wrong to drop litter, but then if they have **** parents it won't happen. It is such arrogance to assume somebody else will tidy up after you and just chuck **** around. I really believe it is all part of the lack of respect people have for others and just think they themselves are all that matters. Tackling litter could well have further social benefits. I tidy up the green space across the road from my house myself - amazing how quickly it accumulates. I just don't want to look out of my window and see litter everywhere. I am hoping that by applying the "broken window syndrome" approach people will drop less, in that if an area has lots of broken windows Youfs will just smash more but are less likely to smash windows in a smarter area. Hoping that if tw@ts don't see litter around they won't drop it but then people that drop litter are tw@ts so not much hope.

P!sses me off no end. How hard is it to put it on the floor of your car and take it into the bin when you get home. Totally agree about the "keep Britain tidy" campaign. Worked for me.

I've been known on a few occasions to go over and throw litter back in cars...I've only managed this on parked cars so far!

I picked up a burger wrapper and stuck it under the guys windscreen wiper. The look on his face was priceless when he asked why I had done it!

It really ***** me off .. seems to be mostly young girls round here ..

My g/f's twin sister (don't look alike) did it and my g/f (being a mum) told her off lol .. but both have been brought up by the same neat and tidy mother who would pick litter up ..

This and spitting really does **** me off no end, on a couple of ocassions I have refused to let someone on my lovely red bus for spitting just before they get on stating " if you spit in the street then what are you going to do on my bus" I cannot abide people who seem to think realeasing there bodily fluids in the street is acceptable.

Scum behaviour, always has been, always will be. I have nearly ended up in punch ups, I find those who drop litter are the dumb and agressive variety who dont respond well to confrontation, best to just say that they dropped something and try and guilt them into picking it up.

I think we need some high profile scum icons doing public information films about litter, they might listen then.

Spitting is disgusting.

It tends to be certain 'types' I've noticed, i.e scum.

Really it is disgusting. Walk around Manchester and peeps are spitting left right and center, often close to the feet of others.

I wonder sometimes if it is some primitive display of territory or dominance? Is it a coincidence these 'types' tend to have aggressive dogs?

Littering is just poor socialsation. I guess you have to blame schools maybe?

I've noticed also that the more 3rd world a country, the more rubbish, debris, litter just lying around everywhere especially the road sides.

The blame lies at the parents feet, it was drummed into me from a young age never to drop litter. Indeed I have to stop my son who is 4 from picking up other peoples litter just for the fact that you do not know what it is.

It must be annoying. I know someone who does it without thinking twice... that's about his only drawback so I'm not going to start giving moral lectures. I'm lucky where I stay that no one litters.

How could you not mean to offend there?

I 'just' work in a shop, yet manage to get through life without feeling the need to drop wrappers everywhere I go. And for the record, it annoys me when I see people do it, moreso when beside a bin!

I spend a fair chunk of my time at work picking up greggs wrappers, pop bottles etc. and scraping food and chewing gum off the floor and fixturing. The last thing I think of when I walk out is, I'll dump some litter because someone else will deal with it. I know only too well how it feels to be at the receiving end of such an attitude. And I'd bet plenty of other mere scummy shop/retail workers do too.

Call me oversensitive (and I know I am being a bit) but at times this place and the attitudes on it really **** me off.

Some **** threw a half eaten burger out of the window in my old car wash and splattered it off the tiles inside the wash.

I saw it happen and raged so much i ran inside, picked it up and threw it off the cars bodywork as it left the site

That depends if you define throwing a half-eaten burger at someones car as 'aggression'.
