Default Tree surgeons - overworked millionaires?

For the last 4 weeks I have been trying to get a tree sutrgeon to come up and do some work at my house./ I have 2 trees in need of serious prining and 4 conifers that need thinning or remioving.

Have contacted 6 different compaies so far and they either don't answer the phone, don't call back from the messages left (note the plural there) or do call back and arrange to come and have a look yet never turn up at the arranged time or any other time come to that.

It's f**king hopeless!!!

some people seriously have too much money/time if they feel the need to phone a tree surgeon

How about a gardner ?

What if the tree's over 30 feet tall? I know that I don't have ladders big enough to get near the top!!!

I'm in the same boat. My tree is approx 30 feet tall. I asked the council to come and remove mine. They will use a cherry picker to do it and do it for free

Unless your a professional gardner I've got no idea why this matters ?

FWIW my gran has large trees in her garden and yes a gardner does it, aswell as the rose bushes and the lawn

Must be an English thing

The tree has cracked my drive and is starting to lift it!. I want it gone. Would do it my self if I had big enough ladders.

I bet you're a up hill gardener?

When I needed a massive tree removing I called two local firms and both turned up to quote, one was £100 cheaper than the other and was even cheaper than a friend who is in the trade who also got me a quote.
They turned up within a week and job done. They all seemed very happy for the business to be honest.

Isn't that thing in your picture a Thuya or a Leylandii? I didn't think they were in the slightest bit prone to being knocked down in storms, as they're very flexible and don't suffer from rot. Who was it that told you it needed to come down?

Not sure of the name of it and the wife has said its got to come down

During high winds the roots lift out across the garden and she wants it down just incase it does fall on its own. Getting sorted wednesday..

Are you a gardener yourself then. Must be some kind of a reason to shoot your mouth off about that!
