Norio ohga - Mr. CD has died
Norio Ohga, the Sony executive widely accepted as being responsible for guiding the company from an electronics firm to be the the huge entertainment corporation it is today and the pioneer behind making CD a consumer format has died.

In the early 80s he formed the alliance between Sony and Phillips that saw the creation of the CD standard and the realisation of CD as a consumer format.
Ah those were the days... the Sony CDP-101 (ghastly sound), Brothers in Arms, Tomorrow's World smearing honey on a CD etc. etc.
