My girlfriend is trying to persuade me to go and live in Sweden in about 12 months time. She loves the country and has lived there before. We are planning to go on holiday there this year but I realise that I am not going to get a great picture of the place in a couple of weeks.
So if anybody has or does live there, what's it like?
Are Swedes nice?
I have heard that the cost of living is really high. Is this true?
I'm learning Swedish but do most people speak English and could I get a job without Swedish?
Do you get really pissed off with the lack of sunlight in the winter?
Loads of questions I know.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Whereabouts in Sweden?
I was in Stockholm for a year, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Weather was fine, I actually preferred it to the UK since there seasons are more defined - nice enough in the summer and cold in the winter, just how it should be. Winters in Finland seem much colder to me... The usual comments about public services abroad apply, ie. much better then the UK. Nice people, stunning women (although that may not be a priority for you). I didn't speak Swedish (still not particularly fluent) but english was widely spoken so no problems there. Cost of living fairly high, but not unbearable.
Where do you live now? My advice would be just do it! You can always come back, you know...
