Default JigSaw

Hi,

I was thinking of buying this Jigsaw for home use.

http://beta.screwfix.com/p/makita-43...v-jigsaw/36392

how do the cordless ones compare in the same price range?

Anyone know?

Also what is meant by Watts and volts (should i go for 110 or 240v?) as these numbers vary for the products?

UK mains is 240v. some professional kit used on building sites is 110v and needs a step down transformer to lower the mains (240v) to 110v which is safer.

Go for 240v

Volts is the pushing power forcing the electricity round the circuit, UK mains is 230V as is the rest of Europe, (we used to be 240V to their 220V).

The more powerful the motor the more Watts it has.

Cordless stuff varies from 9V to 36V, the different voltages aren't compatible and different manufacturers stuff will not work together, ie: you can't put Bosch batteries in Hitachi tools.

Sorry: this site keeps losing my stuff. The browser says "done" but all I get is a white page, blank, so in this case I had to re-type it and went too fast.

I meant 230V of course, now amended.

Both 270w motors and all metal gearboxes so just the other features to choose from Makita are a good reliable brand and easy to get parts and spares for if needed.

You know who your father is? now i am surprised at that and not as surprised as your mum will be who had just narrowed it down to one particular football team including substitutes and coaching staff!
