I see the Humour, yes. But with 10,000 people missing, probably dead, I think it was a joke in very bad taste.

There are some genuine old timers who remember the war and those that suffered at the hands of the Japanese. You'll never see them driving around in a Honda, for example. Doubt they will be giving.

Very poor taste, Lewis.

It's alright Pete I know you didn't mean anything nasty by it, I got sent the same jokes yesterday and though some of them were pretty funny.

After any kind of disaster the jokes come out, this one's no different.

You cant really hold the current population of Japan responsible for some of the horrible stuff they got up to in the war, just like you cant hold German people now responsible for the Holocaust, same reason as you or I cannot be held to account for the slave trade like this lot wanted,

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2210545.stm

Claiming compensation for something that happened to their distant relatives 100 plus years ago.

Not sure on the Japan thing, one of the richest nations on Earth, they can cover it but then again, you do feel like that you want to help as I would hope if we had some natrual disaster (PSL doesnt count) befall us that we could count on some help.

The joke was ok, I dont see why people get sensitive, might as well have a laugh, it raises awareness if nothing else, there is some irony in there that a lot seem to miss, I think the Japanese probably have more to worry about at the moment than the odd joke,

What Pete posted was a joke, i'm sure no offence was intended to anyone.
Some people just have a different sense of humour to others..... nothing wrong with that.

FWIW i had a grin when i first heard that joke.... but that doesn't mean i don't feel sorry for all the people effected by the shocking events out there.

And i'll certainly be making a donation to try to help in any way possible.

Nah, sorry Jacko, jokes about this aren't really on. Wether or not they bring more awareness, fact being that everyone is pretty g'damned aware of this so it needs no extra If it was some kind of marginal issue that no one really knew about then I could understand that point

It was intended as a bit of humour in a pretty sh1tty situation, nothing more.

Now can we relax again please.

Yeah, alright, I'll take the stick outa my ****. Since you've all asked so nicely Can someone at least find one that's funnier and less of a reminder of a large wave of water evacuating the air from peoples lungs whilst they are scrabbling for life?

My Great Grandfather suffered at the hands of his Japanese capturers way back when.

He had his Teeth, toenails and fingernails pulled out.

Do I feel the need to extract a "Revenge" on the current population of Japan? NO, Of course I don't.

DO I demand an apology from the current Japanese Govt? NO, Of course I don't.

Do I demand Financial recompense for my GGF's Suffering? NO Of course I don't.

So why the FVCK is my money being frittered away on compensating descendants of the UK's Unpleasant past?

I am truly horrified by the situation in Japan. The Company I work for had just donated £1,000,000 and clothes / medication so I guess I've done my bit.

That old chestnut. Yeah I'm all for a giggle but sometimes it's not really much of a good show whe you've watched people struggling for their lives etc.

Yeah, just standing up for what I said originally I'm usually a bit of a dark bastid but I don't feel like joining in right now, maybe it's just my current mood but the jokes about dead peeps aren't really cracking me up right now.
