Got flashed by Gatso on other side of road
#1
Driving through Sittingbourne the other day , just pulled out of a junction and could see a Speed camera on the other side of the road.
It decided to flash ,nothing else in sight.
I was just reaching 35mph ,okay in a 30 limit but should it have gone off? being I was driving in the opposite direction.
Also where do I stand if I get a ticket?
On another note what detetctors do you recommend?

don't know about that? but most flash down south and don't give ticket...well around my area.. not to say i drive fast... just known people to have not got tickets on the wrong side of the road.

I believe the ones that tend to have round apertures, with pinkish glass, are digital, and can shoot in either direction. I understand they eventually want to link them all up to a central system so, if you get caught, your ticket is issued the same day
However, I know a few people who've been flashed and never received a ticket.

Yes Josh, They are called Piezo I think, and you can tell them by...
A. The red/pink Bug Eye lens
B. The lines on the road - instead of calibration lines they have two single lines i.e. a start and stop point.

I read in a bike magazine that you can be prosecuted for dangerous driving if you are flashed by a gatso in the opposite lane, because although they can't estimate your speed the fact you have set off the camera means you was speeding in the first place.
I don't know if this is true, but it wouldn't suprise me.

This happened to me at night. Was overtaking a line of cars - so on the other side of road - thing went off just as I was immediately in front of and below it! Talk about thoughtless - the thing practically all but blinded me for at least good second or so! If you ask me this "flash in your face" rule is just downright dangerous.
