Default Sleeping Tablets?

Can you not buy strong sleeping tablets in the UK?

To get over jetlag I normally buy Doxylamine Succinite in the US but I forgot last time I went and have been looking around but everything over the counter appears to be herbal rubbish.

I can get a prescription for Zopiclone, but prefer not to go down that route.

Thanks for any information.

Looks like you can buy doxylamine succinate online in the uk but I don't think I've ever seen it sold OTC except in pain killers such as syndol. Best sleep aid you can get from boots, superdrug etc. would be nytol (diphenhydramine) - a sedating antihistamine like doxylamine.

A pint will often relax you before bed.

Nothing wrong with Zopiclone, I have taken them in the past. I would just rather not have on my Doctor's records that I have requested them more than once or twice. (they do leave a horrible metal taste in your mouth). A prescription lasts me about a year or so.

With regards to exercise and alchohol it doesn't really help with jetlag, I need something that makes me sleep quite well to get over it quickly.

Mmmm ...

Oxycodone is a Class A drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act.[93] For Class A drugs, which are "considered to be the most likely to cause harm," possession without a prescription is punishable by up to seven years in prison, an unlimited fine, or both

Can't stand that stuff. I took some after some surgery I had in 2009 and it made me feel really spaced out but restless and hyper.

Yup, was prescribed by The Florida Hospital, crazy stuff.
And a big issue for a friend who is a cop out there, apparently abuse is quite common to come across.

Yeah it's basically chemical heroin. Not a pleasant feeling but the flight passed quick lol.

It depends how long your mum will be on them and at what dose. Zopiclone was once thought to be safer (less addicting and have less withdrawal effects) than the benzodiazepines but many studies have shown this is not the case.

If you're on them too long it can be really hard to come off them - the withdrawal effects can be extremely unpleasant, just so you are aware as these drugs have snared millions of people:

I don't think she will be bothered by addiction, more side effects.
In her condition I doubt she will come off them now. Main thing is they are doing their job
Cheers for the info though.
