Why is Tesco Petrol now always more expensive than Shell?
In Harlow where i live Tesco's has 2 filling stations and both are consistantly more expensive than the Shell garage which is also near a motorway junction so traditionaly this would be more expensive?
Tesco's has also now reduced club card points on petrol to 1/2 a point per £

Why dont you just fill up at Shell then? I would always prefer to fill up there than at a supermarket garage even though their super is supposed to be quite good.

What 'old 100Ron' are you speaking of? The premium petrol Tescos previously sold was called Tesco99 and Momentum is just a re-brand of the fuel.
The petrol is made by Greenergy and as well as now being the largest fuel supplier in the UK, it is also 35% owned by Tesco

That was my instant thought, our local Tesco Express is part of the Esso garage and is constantly 4 or 5p a litre dearer than any of the local supermarkets - I don't understand why it is so busy

Wasn't the stuff before 'Momentum', 100 Ron Super unleaded?
If not, sorry, am being thick!
In addition, it was very late when I posted that. I must have been very tired!

www.petrolprices.co.uk I generally check on there before I need to fill up as my local shell and tesco alternate which is cheapest week to week!

Down the road from me there is a PB directly opposite a Shell garage. Almost always the PB is more expensive by 1 or 2 pence/ltr but there are always plenty of people filling up. Is this because they fill up company cars and dont care or are they just a bit thick around here?

Cheers Paul,
I have a Tesco pretty close to me and a Shell almost next to it. I will always go local as to drive a couple of miles extra, at todays prices, will negate any benefit I get from it, especially if they have run out and I have to go again.
For me, it will be a simple choice.

Question please, as I am clearly not up to speed on these things.
What is the Shell equivalent, in terms of 'RONS' to the Tesco Momentum please.
Don't want to change the petrol and then have to get the cars re mapped or anything, if I can avoid it.
Cheers.

Yet there is no reglatory quality standard that they have to adhere to with that octane, except for BS7800 , which stipulates 97Ron at the point of delivery (fuel pump).
In other words after its stagnated under the forecourt for a few weeks, who knows what you are really getting.

Yep! They have got the customers by their bellixes, and they play with consumer psychology with things like Clubcard and their .05p a litre discount voucher on occasions, over every £50 spent in their food store. Their self-destructive plastic carrier bags are unbelievably sh!te. For this reason, I did all my Christmas food shopping at ASDA. I only walked into ASDA on the way back from my work, and realised that ASDA sell everything! Even much cheaper! I think ASDA have a capacity to kill Tesco in petrol, food and every supermarket-ish game.

I take it you like ASDA :-) we also shop at ASDA as they are cheaper than Tesco and the others, the fuel is usually cheaper too.
Not having a Tesco nearby also helps lol.
