ebay question
I sold a camcorder on ebay about 15 days ago, I sent it out by recorded delivery and I checked the system after a couple of days and it said it had been attempted to be delivered and a card left.
so I just presumed the buyer would collect it.
He emailed me earlier and said that royal mail have now returned the parcel to me and what am I going to do about it?
its not been returned to me and it still says the same on the royal mail website.
where do I stand? do I have to repay for postage back to him because he was to lazy to collect??

i would chase up where it actually is...15 days and it should be back with you by now, particularly as it had a tracking number. if you have to send it out again then the buyer should pay for re-posting costs, that would only be fair. hope it turns up mate.

The first thing I would do is ring your main office and see if they are holding it at the office. It might be there awaiting to be delivered back to you (assuming you provided a return address?).
If you pick it up yourself (take ID) you will save the postage cost, or you will be charged upon the packege arriving back to you.
I'm not sure why the royal mail are returning it to you though?? Unless he didn't bother picking it up.
Good luck getting it back.
I had a childs suitcase go missing, never to be found again! How the hell it got lost in the first place is beyond me.

You won't have to pay any return postage if the person never collected it.its very strange that they are returning it that quick unless he has told them he did'nt want the parcel.

Buyer's sorting office will keep for a week or so before returning to you. Can you check when it was sent back to you? PO don't always leave a note through door despite what they say. Did buyer say he had received note (I guess he did as he said it had been sent back to you)? dl

yes he got a card through the door, he didnt say why he didnt collect it earlier, but as far as I can remember it says something on the card about if you dont collect within such a time its returned to sender.
I dont mind sending it again if he pays for it.

If it was recorded I think they keep it for 3 weeks and 1 week for special.
So it can take a while to get back if not collected, although I find it hard to beleive that the buyer couldn't get to pick it up OR rearrange delivery which is also an option within the 3 weeks.

I run an eBay shop and have had this problem a few times. Basically, You as a seller have fulfilled your part of the contract. The person taking delivery of the item has the responsibility of doing so be it to their home or by collection from their local Post Office depot.
Any Items which are returned to me because of this are automatically charged again to the buyer (Postage costs)
