Good post. Remember it well, as I came home from school and there is was, that vertical smoke trail that was all that was left.

Also remember being at Cape Canaveral when the Columbia was on the launch pad, just before her final flight, in 2003.

Wow, that was 25 years ago? I remember it well, but didn't think it was that far back.

It was a distressing occasion. Just like the time when a spacecraft with three astronauts caught fire and burned out on the ground. All three were killed.

It happened because there had been a glycol spill in the cabin which is likely to damage the insulation on the wires and NASA decided not to got to the expense of taking the machine to pieces and replacing any damaged wires. The oxygen rich atmosphere in the cabin meant that they had no chance to escape.

Love to be 20 again, with the money & hindsight i have now

Just thinking of all those wimmens opportunities, i should have pursued

I remember it well , sat sqaure infront of our Philips TV (still have the TV - its an antique ).

Was six at the time and it was the same year my parents divorced

Got a memorium sovenioer from my visit to Cape Canaveral in the mid 1990's

I don't remember that - it was 1967 (?) and I wasn't quite born then.

I remember Challenger though, as I'd just started working.
