Its a good one isn't it?

Theres pictures of Class 60081 Isumbard Kingdon Brunel on the net after it suffered "Uncontained engine failure". Not so impressive but you can see the failure was pretty catastrophic.

That is quite impressive from the Canadian loco

47484 used to be named Isambard Kingdom Brunel, did they scrap it and transfer the name plates or are there two IKB's running the rails ?

Love a diesel loco and their massive power plants, sound fantastic, obviously deltics were the daddy but also liked the whistlers, Romanian 56's all had a great sound to them

Ive seen that, wouldnt of liked to be near that when she went, judging by the state of the oil slick down the side it must of been a fair site.

I dont think you cant beat the old steam locomotives. My Grandfather used to own the LNER A4 Pacific Sir Nigel Gresley many many years ago when BR was selling her off. I have no idea what he paid for her as he passed away when I was 2 and my father wasnt interested so didnt take much notice.

I don't mind steam but I'm a modern man. I don't think the 60 Brunel will be rebuilt. I think all the 60s are being quietly killed off or stored as (I guess) its cheaper to buy a nice new 70 than have the 60 refurbed. AFAIK, The 60s were the only thing that could haul the oil trains out of Milford Haven (down the road from me) single handed - I think 66s have to be in pairs.

I model modern UK in OO gauge. Haven't done anything with my layout for a while now. I'm quietly tempted to flog all my UK stock for North American. I love yank trains - Unstoppable is my new favorite film

Nice to find a fello railway modeler on here. I used to have a fair sized OO layout but since moving house everything is in boxes and all my locomotives in a display cabinet. I bought the Flying Scotsman with its extra water tender that Hornby did years and years ago, its never been run when I bought it and I havent run it yet eather.

Do you have any pics of your layout?

Have you seen the pics of the class 70 that got dropped while being unloaded from a ship at Newport docks?

http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...1t:429,r:3,s:0

Would never have happened had it been made at Brush, Loughborough.

Apparently, so far, TWO out of twelve, NOT INCLUDING THIS ONE, are unserviceable with major faults
