Which would you buy?
Been looking for a car for her indoors, and may have found what we want..
bearing in mind its for her indoors, its not that easy lol
would you go for
A) 51-53 plate with 60-80K on the clock
Mid spec, well loaded for about £1200
Or
B) Y plate slightly lower spec, but not pov spec ... £1700,
but the kicker is only 18K on the clock

you will probably find the silly low mileage one is the most worn, all its journeys will have been constantly on and off the brakes, rarely given a good run, etc.
My Grandad had a J plate orion (remember them!!) until last year with less than 20k on it and most of that was done in the first 2 years. Absolute shed, needed new exhaust, battery, brakes but the interior was absolutely immaculate.
I would go for as new as you can without going stupid on the miles depending on how many you plan on doing yourself

My WR1 had higher than usual miles when I bought it, but the service history was impeccable. Plus I do so few miles, it is now less than average.
I'd go for (A)

Bought new, then laid up due to previous owner having medical issues
Last 4 mot's have 36 miles between them
Used by last owner for 1 year he's put 11K on it

Hi Mart, I dont think I'd do it that way.
i'd try and narrow the choice down to what sorts of cars 'er indoors would want, size, engine size, then look fo the best one available. But mileage is always important, but if the mileage cant be validated then you cant use that.
Good luck on the search

Those are just consumerables tho , id be more worried it was a ford just out of the eighties
( fair enough if it had been haematically sealed )

Just got the history on the car
Main dealer serviced from new (phoned them and they confirmed mileages etc)
Serviced & mot'd
3606 04-04
4363 05-05
4815 05-06
5084 01-07
5113 04-08
5140 04-09
Its due a service now, so another bargaining point
Mot history shows only 1 advisory (06) brake disc & fail (07) the same
brake disc in the last 5 years which were replaced
Going to look next week

the low miler is not necessarily neglected. My car is nearing 4 years old and has 13k, mine from new, always warmed up, never short journeyed, oil every 3-4k, the only thing that is worn more than usual would be the discs due to long periods of sitting (no longer than 2 weeks though) causing a build up of rust, leading to scoring. prob will need it's first pads & discs in around march next year.
