4 wheels at the rear I can understand sort of, but surely 4 wheels at the front reduces the turning circle and increases drag?

So it is still rear wheel drive!

It is safer if a tyre blows! Not if it is a rear tyre it isn't !!!!

Of course, Ferrari's are well known for their inherent understeer and need 4 contact patches at the front to remove it

Smaller tyres on the front reduce aerodynamic drag, also you have an extra set of brakes and more contact area for the tyres.
