This will be hardly any different from the current formula, such are the restrictions going to be put in place.

10,000 RPM max.
Fuel flow restrictions etc
1.6 litre

Same power output effectively (with kers boost).

This will not be a return to the manic turbo cars of the 80's.

F1 will stay a snore-fest.

Look in the old days you had lots of technical innovation and variety despite say engine capacity limitations, you have V6's racing flat-8's and inline 4's, plus different car layouts, PLUS more exciting and unpredictable racing.

Now we are basically going backward to 4 bangers and turbos, but bolting on some Toyota Prius technology to tick the 'green box'. Hell it's not even twin turbos.

F1 could have been radical here and gone for H but they have chosen a dead-end formula.

Don't see how? They can change the engines (yet again) but untill the change the Aero packages, the fastest car will still struggle to pass the slowest.

I could go for that; Remove all wings, spoilers and difusers, and make the cars narrower again (so there is more space on narrow tracks to overtake).

I don't have a three trillion post count like some of you jokers, but in none of my posts have I found it necessary to foul-mouth anyone who didn't agree with me.
If every post about F1 had you lot patting each other on the back and nothing else then it would be even more dull and predictable than what we have now.

How is it up there on the moral high ground? Nice view?

I think if you do a bit of reading in NSR from the last few months you will find out the reasons for the 'patting each other on the back' about the comment.

I make no excuses for liking F1 yet can understand perfectly why others don't, but equally I don't understand the need for posting such a negative comment about a sport the guy obviously dones't like or understand. We can't go back to the looney turbo engines of the 1980s as with modern design the cornering speeds would be silly and uber dangerous.

Has anyone noticed that when politicians start a statement with the word "Look" that they are usually about to spout a whole load of old cobblers?

Throw the wings away would be the best all round solution. Force them to have to design real suspension again instead of virtually no movement. We would get far more interesting racing too.

Aren't the cars as narrow as they ever have been? I think in 1998, they went from 200cm to 180cm wide.

As to the changes, I don't agree with them. At a time when the sport is trying to keep costs low, they introduce a brand new engine formula that is going to cost millions, probably billions to develop. Talk about an excuse to raise ticket prices to an even higher extortionate amount!
Why couldn't they have reduced the weight limit slightly, impose the fuel flow restriction and then increase the power output of the kers unit. Kers would then have a bigger impact, but the overall speed of the cars wouldn't change much. Kers would then have the desired effect, i.e. offering a push to pass button, being relevant to industry and not costing much to produce due to having the tech from 2009.

Also, a 10,000rpm rev limit will make the cars sound like any other single seater formula. I want to hear screaming engines, not muted washig machines.
I do see the benifit though of being for manufacturers being able to offer an 'F1 engine' in their road cars. Something to brag about down the pub I suppose.

Oh, and Tony.........change the record. Getting a little boring now.

As said above I love f1 but understand why some don't , last season was fantastic with the new points system . The only thing for me is is like to see a few old classic European tracks back instead of maybe Bahrain and India next year. If you don't like it don't watch it simples .

I kind of wish F1 would take a more subtle approach to restricting power output, instead of making it boring, forcing everyone to use 1.6 4-bangers, with turbos, 10,000 RPM limits, x amount of valves, this and that material etc.

What about uber-weeny fuel limits per race?

Let the teams decide what engine is best suited.

Should promote competing designs and more excitement.

Erm, cost!
It would cripple several teams either with the development costs, or by the amount they would have to pay someone to have the kit to make them competitive. Plus the racing would be worse as some teams would produce great systems and be seconds a lap faster. So, if you want to make F1 better (even though you hate it anyway), try to understand the implications of your suggestions. Infact, the only reason i think you don't like F1 is because you don't actually understand it.
