MPs prepare to vote on daylight savings bill
Could a mod setup a poll?
What are peoples opinions on this then?
Sunrise/ sunset where I am, at the minute..
Sunrise: 8:05 AM
Sunset: 3:57 PM Check yours here
I am all for an extra hour at the end of the day, rather than in the morning and hey, it will tackle obesity
MPs will vote today on a bill that could lead to lighter evenings in the UK. The bill would require the government to launch an inquiry into the benefits of moving clocks forward by an hour throughout the year, and has received widespread support from road safety, environmental, tourism and sports groups. Even if the bill passes, however, Scottish opposition could scupper it in the long run, according to Scottish MPs......

I quite like it this way though, we have mega long days up here in summer it dosent get dark till around 11PM then light again at 3AM, winter time who bloody cares as most of us spend as much time indoors as possible.

He must be, with that set of times.
TBH, it's time we got into step with the rest of Europe: we lose two hours of business per day being out of step with them.
And if the Scots don't like it, well what's to stop them having a different time zone?
Dedrater: you can do your own poll.

Don't see any real advantage in that idea. They did once try double summertime by changing by 2 hours which was not popular at all.
Why should we slavishly have to follow Europe?

What's the point? Hr lighter in the evening yet hr darker in the morning ... swings & roundabouts isn't it. My understanding is that it's there to make it safer for kids going to school ie light whilst they're travelling.

This is one of those 'if it ain't broke don't fix it scenarios'. As Les says, if the EU is so concerned then let them get their clocks in line with ours as at the end of the day there is only so much daylight. What you gain in the afternoon you lose in the morning.

Just shows how impotent our government is whilst we're in the EU. Having to debate minor details such as this when we're in the middle of the biggest financial crisis since the 30's, students are rioting on the streets, we have soldiers dying for 'God knows what' in Afghanistan and the country grinds to a halt after 1/2" of snow. Muppets!

Makes no odds to me ( live in central scotland ) i work twelve hour shifts. So during the winter i go to work in the dark and come home in the dark whether i am dayshift or nightshift.
