Default MPs prepare to vote on daylight savings bill

Could a mod setup a poll?

MPs will vote today on a bill that could lead to lighter evenings in the UK. The bill would require the government to launch an inquiry into the benefits of moving clocks forward by an hour throughout the year, and has received widespread support from road safety, environmental, tourism and sports groups. Even if the bill passes, however, Scottish opposition could scupper it in the long run, according to Scottish MPs......

What are peoples opinions on this then?

Sunrise/ sunset where I am, at the minute..

Sunrise: 8:05 AM
Sunset: 3:57 PM Check yours here

I am all for an extra hour at the end of the day, rather than in the morning and hey, it will tackle obesity

He must be, with that set of times.

TBH, it's time we got into step with the rest of Europe: we lose two hours of business per day being out of step with them.

And if the Scots don't like it, well what's to stop them having a different time zone?

Dedrater: you can do your own poll.

Don't see any real advantage in that idea. They did once try double summertime by changing by 2 hours which was not popular at all.

Why should we slavishly have to follow Europe?

What's the point? Hr lighter in the evening yet hr darker in the morning ... swings & roundabouts isn't it. My understanding is that it's there to make it safer for kids going to school ie light whilst they're travelling.

Because Europe is our biggest customer and trading partner, and by being an hour behind them, we lose two hours' trading every day.

Why not ask them to come into line with our time zone then.

Makes no odds to me ( live in central scotland ) i work twelve hour shifts. So during the winter i go to work in the dark and come home in the dark whether i am dayshift or nightshift.
