Default Third party mobile phone insurance

Looking to insure my new mobile, looking around, excesses vary from £100 to around £25.
Some vary the excess on how long you've been insured.

I'd like it covered for loss as this doesn't seem to come standard anymore.

Anyone recommend a company they've used and had no problems with?

Tia

Didn't know you were getting a new mobile. Still waiting for mine to turn up - and my old sim now doesn't register

I saw yesterday, on a television show, that most of them are complete *******s when it comes to loss re: reckless loss. I'll see if I can remember where I saw the report.

Depends what phone it is for too, as some have an upper limit which does not cover the full cost.
Have always preferred insurance through my network as they replace the phone within 24 hours, never had to pay anything towards it that I recall.

However now I am using my banks cover on it, which is £25 excess, but very hi cover limit. Might revert back to Orange though lol

Looked into the limits, wouldn't need to be more than £400. I'm with O2, the insurance they offer is from another company apparently and not too good.

Going with the bank wouldn't be worth it for me, i'd not use any of the other benefits it gives.

Just the travel insurance and the phone insurance cover the cost of banking for me lol.
It's a bloody mine field out there for insurance now days. Check the small print like how it's replaced, what time scales, what's not covered. Some proper cheeky companies out there.

Just took a look at my bank (Hsbc) it appears that they don't even offer phone insurance with their premier account.

Looking at insurance2go.co.uk at the minute. Seem to have some good reviews, obviously could be made up, who knows. Anyway, with the £6 quidco it makes it £4.91 a month which doesn't seem too bad.

I used to be with Policy Admin which I arranged through Phones 4 U, £10 per month and they were fine when i dropped my Blackberry in a sink, they cover loss but never claimed for that.

I'm with Lloyds now on my bank account, worked out cheaper and I get other things too like AA cover and travel insurance thrown in

Some of these phone insurance companies will do anything to try and wriggle out of paying up. Missus had been paying £7 a month for 3 years before she made a claim, and the 1st thing the insurance company did was tell her she acted irresponsibly and would not be paying out, the phone had fell out of her bag and into a puddle.
