Default Did you watch Accused last night (BBC1)?

I enjoyed it but can someone clear up something for me please.

Where did the counterfeit money originate from? Was it just the £20k from the cab or all passed down as the winnings from the casino?

Think it was the money from the cab. He then cashed it in for a chip at the casino, then got £40K back - this must have been clean. This is why the hard man never came looking for him cos the original money was fake and he gave the real money back to the cab office, which we can assume was passed onto the hard man.

Thought it was good. 6 years though, was that a bit harsh!?

I was wondering that. Sounds like the best explanation above. I think the sentence is too hard since he had no knowledge of the forged notes and he did go back to the cab office and hand the £20K back. He was guilty of gambling with someone else's money even though he did not know it was forged.

So you're saying a casino wouldn't recognise forged notes? Seems a bit far fetched to me. Hell it's only a yarn

Have a look here................ 10 year max sentence, there's a list showing the most recent sentences, 4 years in prison for £10 million in one case and 6 years in prison for £700,000.

A casino wouldn't know about fake notes till it's too late, If it was used in small amounts. I don't remember ever checking notes when i used to work on the tables

Although saying that if someone took £20,000 into one and put it all on red then that may ring alarm bells.
