Default Postage package to NI

Cannot get any sense out of the royal mail site.

Is NI classed as part of UK and not subject to international postage costs?

I need to send a 1.5kg parcel to NI recorded signed for for just to cost of the postage so want to get it right so the recipient or indeed i do not get stung.

be prepared to be *** raped on postage charges. We have suffered this in NI for years. we are still part of the UK but that 10 miles of Irish Sea is a dear ******* trip.

I bet money that it'll cost more to ship to N.I than mainland.
Yes N.I is part of UK, but all those site that offer "free delivery for mainland only" do that for a reason.

But he is wanting to post the package himself, via Royal Mail.
Last time I worked in a post office it was the same rates.

If you use post office or parcelforce it is exactly the same rate. Assuming its a packet at 1.5 kg it will cost £5.94 first class recorded. Another thing is for heavier packages parcelforce do a service, £10.99 for a 48 hour service anywhere in the UK, including NI for up to 30kgs. Through senditnow.com, they will even pick it up from your house

Question

Has anyone experience of this lot? https://www.myhermes.co.uk

They quote just under £6.00 for a 2KG parcel to NI incl. signed for and comp if lost/damaged on a 2-3 day service

Never used them but Royal mail will likely be handier? Its easier for somebody to pick up at the other end as well if they arent in the house, they arent a lot of courier depots really in NI so sometimes it can be a bit of a drive to then pick it up, rather than just going to the post office

You can only send a 1.5 kg packet through Royal Mail by First Class and this is £5.20 plus Signed For Recorded at £0.74.

Next Day Special Delivery is £8.65 for 2 kgs.

Certificate of Posting is free and loss compensation is 100 x £0.43 max.

As said NI is just part of UK even if they speak funny
