I had similar, managed to get to France with a combination screwdriver rolling around in the bottom of my bag. The French, however, were on top of the job and confiscated it on the way back.

Just after the bans on liquids in hand luggage and then on to the plastic bags, I travelled back through 3 major international airports with a bag full of liquids and razor blades, a comb that had a shiv handle and lighters. It was just an idle mistake and no one batted an eye lid so i'm always bemused by their security checks. Las Vegas to San Francisco to Heathrow to Newcastle without getting stopped
