Unhappy iPhone 3gs problems

Had my 3gs for 15 months now and it's always been ok, that's until monday when it's ran into a problem!!

I always turn it off at night, on monday when I turned it back on it had 56% battery left. Within 30 minutes it had fully drained the battery & switched off!! The back of the phone was warm to the touch, as if you'd been playing a game for an extended period.

Now whenever it's on it's warm to the touch & continues to drain the battery & an alarming rate. I've turned off 3gs, location services & Wifi to limit the amount of drain on the battery but it is still the same.

Tried contacting Apple Uk customer services but keep on getting left on hold Is it a matter of a new battery If so how much am I looking at??

Under a tenner on ebay instructions here
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/I...Battery/1545/1

Might be worth trying a restore via iTunes beforehand.

Probably never know, I had a similar problem last week using a Spanish sim card, had to reset the network settings a couple of times before I could get a full days use out of it.

My mate updated to the new firmware and his phone was discharging at the rate of knots, he did a hard reset and it is back to normal, although all his saved stuff was lost.
