Where to get a mobile WITHOUT the bloat?
Looking at getting a new mobile, but this isn't a thread about 'which mobile' but a thread on where to get it without having the carriers own software on it. I have to go with Vodafone (only signal around here) and am probably going for an Android phone but would prefer just the manufacturers software installed rather than the crud that Vodafone install. I also know that, at least for a lot of phones, you can hack them to remove carriers software, but I'd rather have it without from day one.
Carphone Warehouse said that get their phones direct from the manufacturer. Can anyone confirm this? And are there any more, particularly online, that do it this way?
Ta in advance.

CPWH do indeed get sim free phones, as do Expansys.

You can usually just flash a phone to remove a lot of the carriers software anyway

As for a 'simple flash', it's not always that easy, which is why I'd rather go with 'manufacturers' from day one.

Odd, buying an iPhone from Expansys is £100 more than from the Apple store. And the HTC Desire HD or Torch at 32gig costs more than a 32gig iPhone bought in an Apple store. Crikey!

Well Asda and Tesco sell phones that have very little bloat on them - then again they might not be exactly what your after but was suprised at what phones they do sell.
