Favourite Art/ Artist
A spin-off from the Tate sunflower seeds thread. Do you have a favourite artist and/ or do you own any art?
I have never found anything I like that much that I would want to pay a lot of money for or actually have on my walls.
When I'm travelling about I try to pop into galleries but I always come out empty handed - I don't think I really know what I like but I definitely know what I don't like.
I'm not keen on stuff that Ikea reproduce/ hotel room art/ Jack Vettriano type prints.
Who/ what do you like?

Interesting thread.
I'd like to buy some art for my home and would be happy to spend about £500-£1000 per piece for something special. Problem is I just don't know where to start and some 'high street' galleries/art shops try and charge you that for mass produced garbage

I'm also a bit of a geek so I like original artwork by comic book and graphic novel artists, got a decent Batman piece and a Wolverine piece with Nightcrawler in there.
Beryl Cook is also pretty awesome, I've got a big print signed by her that I'm sure must have gone up in value since she died (RIP).

Govinder Nazram.
Got quite a few of his embelished pieces, but unfortunately he died very young a few years ago.

Have a look at http://www.paulfryer.net/paulFhomepage.html. A friend of mine does all the serious engineering for him.

I had the good fortune to view Crucifixion (Corpus Hypercubus) at NY's Met. recently and the work is captivating.
I'm a fan of the late Robert Lenkiewicz, who worked and lived in my home town, Plymouth. My family and I own a signed 126/370 Warren Woods and an original self portrait. His life was unique, his projects inspired.

Kasimir Malevich through his early cubism years before he went all supremacist. Also Fernand Leger. Excellent, excellent work. I draw inspiration for any abstract work I do from these two
