Red face Banks are STILL being stupid in Lending!

Just asked Lloyds TSB what they would consider lending me ..... the answer was, quite simply, staggering.

£481,247!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is complete and utter madness in my opinion - I wouldn't lend me THAT!

Now, if I was simple I could now buy a £1,000,000 house - and still have change from sixpence! But I'm not about to!

If this kind of ridiculous lending practise is going on then we are in for another mess!!

I am sorry but a statement like the one you posted Pete is invalid without any evidence to back it up...I just got a call from HSBC who said if I open an account with them they would come round and vac my floor...needless to say I negotiated a window clean too...woohoo.

A waste of a thread....I hope the holes don't appear.

Not at all ... !!!!

You will note that I think it a stupid amount to lend me, it's NOT a statement of what I earn at all - how can it be??? We need to get back to the old regime of lending where multiples are strictly adhered to .... and I think there will be new rules next year on this.

They will take 8 years of Consultancy Fees into account .... of course I own several other houses, shares and other assets - the 50% deposit also counts for something.

STILL they shouldn't be tempting me with such lending!! I'm intelligent enough to resist, but some poor souls get taken in and will lose their homes when rates return to their long time average of 8%!!
