Jail break iphone 4
A lad at work is ripping me as I haven't had my iphone 4 jail broken. No 'geek speak' please, what does this allow me to do as he couldn't really explain when I asked him?

Jail broken = allows you to run non authorised apps
Unlocked= allows you to use the phone on any networks aside from the one you originally signed up with. Obviously this is not applicable if you bought a PAYG phone or sim free
And anyway how can your mate laugh at you when he does not even know the difference

Non authorised apps are ones that do not feature on the Apple App store or in iTunes. jailbroken apps revolve around a community of developers who showcase apps that either did not meet the approval of the app store or duplicate features already in apps.
The main gripe is that many of these so called ' jailbreak apps ' are in fact brilliant and useful.
Difficult to define examples are most are personal preferences.

Heres a few from Cydia. Cydia is an unofficial Apps store and is installed on the device when it is jailbroke. There are plenty of other sources available to download from once the deed is done.
If you are not happy with the jailbreak then the device can be restored to factory through itunes. Nothing to lose really, it is just personal preference.
