I don't disagree with that, indeed I totally agree with his opposition to 42 day detention. What he is though (and we see this quite frequently on BBC London) is the sort of person who when faced with a disagreement will play the race card as a first resort, thus perpetuating his job.

As far as I can see they are an excuse for politicians not to have to make any decisions themselves. Don't want to have to work too hard. They need the time to fill in their expense claims of course!

This thread has the potential to turn into a Muslim bashing thread like no other, think before posting, is it a real issue or an excuse to have a pop at Muslims.
I personally think that there is an issue here, this isnt me hating on Muslims but if fifty percent of Muslim men are unemployed then either they arent getting a chance, they are actually not working or are working in the "Cash Economy" like I mentioned in the thread I posted last week, like has been mentioned Taxi's, Shops and Food outlets, a lot of the staff arent official, a lot arent actually legal immigrants.
My take is that generally Asian's are hardworking folk, it is just that a lot of their business goes on under the radar, cant blame them if they can get away with it but I suspect also they are some of the biggest benefits claimants who I would imagine find it highly amusing, similar to our own, home grown claimants but a bit smarter, another reason why the country is on its ****.

I would say this is more to do with integration or the lack of it and the failure to tackle it by successive governments and also terror attacks such as 7/7 and the failed attack on Glasgow airport do not help although this also plays into the terrorists hands.

those figures are for people not working though, which is very different to not working and claiming benefits - especially relating to Muslim mothers, who mostly stay at home - ie aren't seeking employment or claiming benefits. May aren't able to ceess benefits either (no recourse to public funds), which causes great problems if they end up single.

I had the good fortune to be based in Slough for a few months last year which appeared, to my middle-class, insuler eye, to be almost exclusively Muslim. My instinct was that the veiled ladies behind the counters, who said little else other than "cash only", were off the grid. I think J4CKO's on to something.
