It's going to get confusing if they start naming mobile phones after other objects. Oh well at least they didn't call it Candle, saving that for the really basic version I guess?
Candle, torch, lantern, bulb, flood light, search light, etc.

I've used one and it's a little dissapointing to be honest.
Things like when you turn it landscape, it ignores you! Browser isn't as good as I'd have hoped, but better than current version.
It's also a good bit larger than the 9700, especially when using a case, and it's heavy!

I've had my Vooda 9800 for a week now, very happy with it.
The Voda 9800's come with software version 246, considerably better than the early releases that were quite bug ridden.
I wouldn't read too much into the geeks moaning about lack of processor speed and screen quality, both are more than acceptable.
Seriously, how many times would you really want to record a video at 1080p or watch HD content on a phone???
It's the best BB ever released, not good enough to persuade iPhone 4 users to switch sides, but a damn good phone nonetheless.

Physical mate, touch screen is good for browsing, flicking through pictures, scrolling through messages etc.
My fingers are a bit too big for touchscreen typing, I know you don't like touchscreens, neither do I, but for swiping and scrolling they work well.
No issues at all with my phone, I think in general the Hungarian builds are of a higher standard than Mexican and Canadian, so I've not had any of the issues that you read about on Crackberry.
To be honest, Crackberry is chock full of whining yanks that are all hooked up on processor speeds and HD quality screens. It may contain last year tech, but it works very well for most users needs, but they (RIM) do need to sharpen up their build quality a little.

That's what I was hoping to hear.
Sounds like I will have to give one a spin. Only thing is, being a heavy user,I'm not sure about opening it over and over, so will be interesting to see how that pans out if i try one.
Totally agree with the critic side of things.
How are you finding OS 6?

I think if theres an issue with the slider assembly then it's got to go back, but no issues so far with mine.
OS6 obviously designed with touch being the major influence, not sure a 9700 would get many benefits.

I gave in and got one ! Doh.
The guy in the shop also suggested a protective "rubber bumper" as he called it, so I got that too.
So far I like it, a little awkward at the mo, but im sure I will get used to it. Looks "impressive" in the pocket though.

seriously thinking about this Torch for Wifey in Jan when her contract is up.....
AND me when my iphone contract is due in the Summer. I'm that unimpressed with the iphone experience (and this is from an avid Mac user) - it's expensive (for what it is) and lacks functions (my old N95 had more functionality than my iphone)
Was totally switched off with the Storm (it was sh1te), but this is much more like it.
intrigued.
