Default iPad (Non 3G)?

I am coming home today from the US and wandering past the Apple store I can get the 16gb iPad for $499 (about $530 including tax) which is about £350.

Is the iPad worth it without the 3G option? We already have iPhone plans with internet access and I wouldn't buy another SIM/Plan just for the iPad.

If you have an iphone then there is no need for the 3G option as you can use the phone as the 'modem'

I personally wouldn't buy 1 with 3G for that very reason.

I thought that tethering to an iPhone was very specifically blocked on the iPad?

I wouldn't bother getting one without 3G. you don't need to put a sim in

Does the Wifi version have the Compass and GPS? I seem to think they're missing.

i went for the 3g ipad but not used the 3g part yet as the wifi tether works so well, so if you have any sort of modern phone you probably won't need the 3g

Okay, just played in the Apple store for a while and bought one.

Just the 16gb/non 3G version.
