Default Tesco: once is an accident...........

..............twice is just silly and three or more times? It's a scam!

I'm talking the strange pricing that goes on in our local store.

Bacon:£1.45 a pack. Buy TWO for £3.

As above, really. I could undrstand it once as an accident, but when you notice it every visit, they are scamming people.

Thieving barstewards!

Oh, and while I'm on asbout Tesco, can anyone explain why THEIR Farm eggs are £1.45 a half dozen, while my local Spar sells 'em at £0.95 per half dozen? Tesco over 50% dearer!

Tesco's is crap mate. I can't work out how our family owned local shop can get things like washing powder cheaper than a company like Tescos that buys in bulk.

Well it can't. It just works on a lower margin. dl

Probably good Nat can get me oober quality bacon from work for 50p a pack then

We are very wary when at Asdas with stuff like this. Good recent example was a particular sauce we both like, £1.15 each or two for £1. Nat then said to me we only needed one - proves people fall for it

There was a story on this sort of thing on Watchdog and that same week I noticed a Tesco offer - 98p each or 2 for £2.

All the big supermarkets are at it use local stores instead, that way money stays local / in the UK rather than go off to Chile where they get their apples from FFS

TX.

You see it all the time, you just have to be wary and not be fooled.

I'm not sure if it's deliberate scamming or if they just employ some complete numpties at head offices. Just annoys me that it's the 'little people' at the bottom that have to put up with the complaints (well at least that's what happens where I work).

whats the problem? They are clearly marking the items correctly and its up to you whether you want to buy them? Your choice. If youre too stupid to make choices on your own and unsupervised dont blame Tesco....

it says "any two for 5.00" not two packets of the bacon for 5.00

this suggests to me there is a whole range to choose from not just the bacon, alot of which will be more than 2.50 each.

were there other products with the same two for 5.00 next to them?

and no i dont work for tesco's

What if you do notice but need 2 packets? When you go to the till even though you know it's cheaper to buy them single, when scanned through the checkout the 2 for £3 will still come up and be charged.

I think I have worked out a way to back scam them. OK go in and buy 1 pack of bacon for 1.99 then turn round and buy a second pack for 1.99. Then go straight to customer services and claim you just bought them but you realise you dont need them but have lost your receipt. Be convincing and you get £5 back. £1.02 profit. Repeat at every Tesco until you are a millionaire Now where's the address for Dragon's Den?

F1, the only problem you may encounter there is if they have a policy of 'No refund/exchange without receipt'. Even if places are flexible on this one, it's unlikely they'll budge if a product isn't saleable. Maybe I'm over thinking this.

scarey, IIRC, and I'm pretty much 100% on this, the offer applied only to the various types of Bacon (streaky/smoked/unsmoked). Micky is quite observant and as I work in a shop myself, I don't like to jump on an 'offer' unless he/we are correct.

There are people who have dyscalculia or for one reason or another are not good at maths, possibly brain injury. Should these 'Stupid' people be discriminated against?

Or, I think all goods prices should be listed in an advanced scientific formula, this way only the cleverest of people can work out bargains, and keep the stupid people spending the most money.

Sounds like the waltons. My world is one of people living alone, where no-one gives a **** about anyone else, let alone accompanied shopping trips to ensure bargains can be had for the stupid people.

If you buy the two lower priced items, are you actually billed for the higher "offer" price?

Being sad I enjoy perusing through the "sell-by tonight" section,

Where the two for £3 bacon is reduced to £1.79 a pack, and it's nearly "old" too...

dunx

P.S. I got several packs of six large wholemeal breadcakes for 9p a pack last Friday...

Don't Tesco do Double The Difference?

ie if you are overcharged, they will refund you double the difference back

So you could actually get £2.04 back...

Used to do this at my local sainsburys a few years ago.
Their tills couldn't deal with reduced offers.

Once I took quite a lot of reduced food to the till (about £40 worth of Meat, Salmon etc) and they had to give me £4.51
