Default Type 2 Diabetes

Unfortunately I have been plagued with this disease for the last 5 years , but I have managed to reduce my blood glucose levels quite markedly by taking apple cider vinegar before meals.
I take the organic vinegar cut with water , as it tastes better.
I clean my teeth immediately as the acid in the vinegar could play havoc with tooth enamel.
If any of you fellow sufferers out there give it a go - A natural remedy that really does work.

Interesting Rob and a new one on me.

May I ask.

Before all meals or just evening one? How much?

How do you know blood sugar is down? By a finger test 30 mins later or something? What do you call an acceptable level for blood sugar?

Are you on insulin?

Where do you get this juice from?

Thanks, David

PS. From someone who is really pissed off that GPs don't offer a diabetes test to likely candidates as a matter of routine. Takes 30 seconds to do

I take the vinegar/water prior to the consumption of carbohydrates.
20 mg in say a tumbler of water
I only test in the morning - so its a fasting reading . Prior to this treatment I was averaging 6.5 mmol/L I am now getting readings from 5.7 to as low as 4.9 !
No I don't take any medication
Organic Apple cider vinegar is sold in any health shop

I'd give brushing after an acid intake a miss.......the acid reduces the enamel hardness which is then brushed away. Just swish with a little milk, water or fluoride mouthwash

Thanks Rob,

I'd have thought that 6.5 was fine as an average. Have you ever had a hypo? I had one in the morning once and they are bloody frightening things - couldn't stand up properly, slurred speech and could sleep for England I am only going by what I was told but that was that this was a danger if reading fell much below 6.

Important to note that I am not a medic just a sufferer so could be wrong on this one (but not by a lot I don't think!). Might be worth doing a few checks during the day to know what b/s level is doing if you don't mind the thumb holes. David

As far as I know I suffer from elevated b/s . Maybe I need to do more testing as you suggest .My doc has never mentioned low sugar ?
No never had a hypo - I have had those symptoms of course , but that was from getting pissed.

As a post script to the above - Normal Blood Glucose fasting range for an adult (without Diabetes) is defined as 4.1-5.9 mmol/L . Source Accu-Chek Go

As I say I am not a medic but it might be worth asking your doc. Many GP practices have a diabetic nurse who often knows more than the GP!

Re the hypo all I would say is be aware of what it is 'cos if you get one without realising the cause it is pretty frightening, worse than a turbo hangover You can also get a tube of glucose pills to keep in the cupboard to boost your blood sugar and get you out of it in an emergency.

Happy pricking! dl
