Default 3D now on PS3. Worth getting a 3DTV?

Anyone got a 3D TV or made a move specifically to 3D from a perfectly good TV? The ones Ive seen have look good but dont think its enough to make me part with that sort of money for such a small gain.

The Panasonic 50vt20 is outstanding looking if you are in a dark room but its not for me. I found the 50" screen to be quite restrictive, so I can only assume anything smaller would have very little impact. You need a large projector to make 3D truely worth watching.

Do you have to use glasses for all 3D TVs? I thought there were different types with some doing without.

There appears to be some without: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/3DTV-aut...view-1490.html but they are in the early stages of development.

To answer the original question, I can't really be bothered to put on special glasses to watch television ..

No, neither could I. Its like we've gone backwards.

you can buy big screen simulation glasses that are cheaper, give you perfect ambient lighting conditions and make you feel like you're at the cinema. If I wore glasses Id just get 2 of them.

I rea;;y wouldn't buy a 3D tv just to play my games on, I think it's a bit of a gimmick, maybe good for some films and maybe sport but don't want everyday tv in 3D I can't see it taking off in a big way

give it another couple of years and the "pilot" models will probably be obsolete considering the rate that tech is coming on these days! it was only 20 years ago we were all playing Sega Mega drives drooling over sonic the hedgehogs graphics!

If you're running your PS3 through an amp, you'll need HDMI 1.4 or drop your audio through another HDMI 1.3 / Optical channel. This will mean you'll lose your full audio but you will get 3DTV

Was looking at one of the Sony 40" TVs the other day, stunning image - seemed to go IN as much as the image came out of the screen.

Just over £1000 with an offer they aren't meant to talk about yet (£250 off with any old crap TV you bring in)

There are Blu-Ray 3D films though aren't there? (my PS3 died last week, so I got a new S570 BD player instead as I never used the PS3 for games.)

Another PS3 died? They seem to go a bit to easily judging by how many people report this.

Need to wait until they can make a 3D set that doesn't require glasses I think. Can't be that far away.

^^ How will that be possible? The screen image is blurred as it's taken with 2 cameras from slightly different angles (just like our eyes of course). I don't see how the TV will be able to put that blurred 2D image back together to form a 3D image ie specs will always be needed. Unless you're talking holograms, Star Wars etc

30 odd years ago no-one thought they'd have a machine in their pocket capable of talking to someone on the other side of the world or playing angry birds

I'm sure the bods are working on it.

TBH it seems that things have gone full circle and many of those crappy games with crappy graphics are back in vogue again.

Just needs a new laser i think.
Sure there are repair kits out there for them.
My best mate bought a knackered ps3 with this fault, replaced the laser, and hey presto!!

I know - I'm going to be giving it to my brother as a present. I don't use it for gaming anyway and he will.
